Are you an experienced rider who has successfully completed your CBT and theory test? And ready for the next step to apply for a full motorbike licence? Then this blog post is for you!

In this blog post we’re going to discuss intensive riding courses, the DAS (Direct Access Scheme) here at AVSCO motorcycle training courses.

The Direct Access Scheme is aimed at those aged 24 or over or those who have held an A2 licence for at least two years. The DAS allows riders to receive professional motorcycle training and take the full motorcycle tests on a large motorcycle of over 595cc with a minimum power output of 40 kW.

We have a variety of experienced and friendly instructors to help you get your full motorbike licence.

If this course isn’t right for you, we have plenty of other motorcycle training courses for you to choose from. Take a look at our range of courses here.

How much is the DAS course?

The DAS course is designed to fit around you, it can last from two days to six days, so the cost will depend on the amount of training you will need. If you’re unsure if this course is right for you, you can take a ‘Free Rider Assessment’ in which we will determine which course suits you and how many days you may need. To book a ‘Free Rider Assessment’, give us a call on 01923 866 002, or email us at avsco.cbtdas@gmail.com.

What can I expect from the course?

The DAS course is split into two modules.

Module one: This exam is all about control. You must demonstrate good control of the bike in a variety of conditions, from slow speed manoeuvres to speed manoeuvres. When choosing a training school you want to make sure they have a site big enough to be able to practice all your MOD 1 exercises in a safe and controlled environment. At AVSCO we have full exclusive use of a 300 square metre site where we are able to complete all the mandatory exercises at the required speeds. On weekends we also have access to the DVSA exam site, so you’re able to practice on the actual tarmac you will take your exam.

Module two: so, you’ve demonstrated your control of the bike in module one, but now you need to demonstrate your ability to ride safely in a variety of road traffic conditions. Module two is on public roads where you’ll undertake a motorbike test, similar to the car driving test. You’ll ride through a variety of road conditions under assessment from an examiner following on a motorcycle. Your motorcycle instructor will escort you to the test centre, so you are fully prepared for the 40 minute test route.

Our number one priority is to teach you to ride a bike no matter its location, but to better prepare you for the exam we will also take you to your test area and practice riding on roads, roundabouts, junctions and dual carriageways that have a high probability of being included in your test route.

By doing so you will be better prepared, more confident and reassured. In the end, through hard work, patience and determination, we aim to get you a positive result.

So that’s what the intensive road training course entails. The DAS is not a course designed for complete beginners, the ITM or CBT courses will be more suited towards you. If you have any questions please feel free to ring us on 01923 866 002, or email us at avsco.cbtdas@gmail.com if you prefer.
