It’s almost Summer, the months of ice-creams, slathering on sunscreen and riding your pride and joy, your motorbike.
In this blog we discuss taking a full bike test. We have three courses to get you started and to become an advanced rider. You’ll be a swift and safe motorcyclist in no time.
Firstly, we have a CBT (Compulsory Basic Training) course, this is our most popular course to undertake.
At AVSCO, the CBT course will teach you safe road riding skills, along with basic understanding of the theory of riding. We can teach Monday all the way through to Saturday, so you can pick a date and time which suits you best.
For many learners, the Compulsory Basic Training courses will take no longer than a day, but if you are not ready at the end of the CBT course, you will have a chance to practice more in order to gain confidence on the road and show safe riding skills.
Once booked in for your CBT, when you arrive at reception, your documents and riding equipment will be checked. You will then be transported to our off-road site and introduced to your instructor. Then the fun begins, we’ll teach you the basics and soon you’ll be on the road practicing your motorbike skills.
If you are looking for your full motorcycle licence, DAS (Direct Access Scheme) is the next step you should undertake.
A Direct Access Scheme is aimed at those aged 24 or over or those who have held an A2 licence for at least two years. The DAS allows riders to receive professional motorcycle training and taking the full motorcycle tests on a large motorcycle of over 595cc with a minimum power output of 40 kW.
You will need to have successfully completed your theory test and you will need to complete a CBT prior to undertaking the Direct Access Scheme.
And last but by no means least, you should complete your training with a ERS (Enhanced Rider Scheme) course.
Our Enhanced Rider Scheme is our most advanced riding course and is tailored to suit your individual requirements. One of our friendly DVSA-approved instructors can help you build on your strengths and increase your confidence on the road.
The scheme has been designed to equip you with the knowledge you need to stay safe on the road, no matter what hazards may be lurking around the corner.
Our aim is to work on improving your riding skills, physical co-ordination and balance, as well as helping you build your confidence on the road.
So, those are the courses to ride your way through Summer. Stay safe on the roads and happy riding.
If you would like to book one of the courses, or all three, give us a call on 01923 866 002 or email us avsco.cbtdas@gmail.com. We’d be delighted to help you get started on two wheels.
